Hemingway, On Writing (And Faulkner)

Poor Faulkner. Does he really think big emotions come from big words? He thinks I don't know the ten-dollar words. I know them all right. But there are older and simpler and better words, and those are the ones I use.

  2. Faulkner had said something like Hemingway needs to use a dictionary, because his words are too simple, and this quote was in reference to that. But I was mainly using it for the insight on writing.

  4. If you ever give me a ride in your car and not just drive away every time, leaving me stranded on the side of the road, surrounded by hyenas and Wu-Tang Clan, I call shotgun.
